About us

Two Italian hikers in love with the Himalayas, Mario and Robi, meet Bibi and his cousin Dalam, two experienced Nepalese guides with dozens of successful expeditions.

During the Annapurna circuit, driven by friendship and united by their passion for what is rightly called ‘the roof of the world’, they matured the desire to create an agency that would put the real protagonists of these mountains, the Nepalese guides, at the centre.

Himalaya Exped was born.

Our mission

Our mission is to revolutionise the way trekking expeditions in the Himalayas are organised by putting Nepalese guides at the heart of the project. Today, too many agencies operate as intermediaries, recruiting guides and porters precariously and often without insurance, with no guarantee of continuous employment and forcing them to live mainly on tips This system exploits the guides, who are the beating heart of every mountain adventure.

We, Mario, Robi, Bibi and Dalam, decided to change all that. Our agency is unique because it is 50 per cent owned by the Nepalese guides themselves, guaranteeing them stability, safety and respect. We believe that guides should be recognised and valued for their professionalism and their essential contribution to expeditions.

Our vision is to offer Himalayan exploration experiences that not only respect and protect the environment, but also value the people who make these adventures possible. Together, with our team of Nepalese guides, we aspire to create a model of ethical and sustainable tourism, where each expedition not only conquers new peaks, but also strengthens local communities and promotes positive change.

The founders

Bir “Bibi” Bahadur

I have extensive experience that includes exploring all the major Himalayan regions, climbing 25 times to Everest Base Camp and completing the Annapurna Circuit 15 times.

I bring my expertise, kindness and knowledge of every detail of the routes with me on every trek, to offer you memorable experiences, always enhancing the beauty and culture of my beloved Nepal.

Dalam Magar

With a career full of adventures through the majestic Himalayan peaks, I have trekked the Everest routes a total of 20 times, including the classic route and the Gokyo route.
I bring my expertise, kindness and passion for the mountains to each trek to provide you with safe and memorable experiences, always enhancing the beauty and culture of my beloved Nepal.

Mario Maschio

After a lifetime spent between Milan and the Dolomites in 2023, I trekked more than 6,500 km solo through Patagonia, Europe and Asia.
I bring with me on every trek the professionalism of a manager combined with the enthusiasm of an explorer, to guide you to discover the less touristy routes, in search of the authentic and unspoiled mountains.

Roberto Caccia

I have over 40 years of experience in the Alps, which I have tackled in all weather conditions and honed various mountaineering techniques, from ski mountaineering to progressions as a rope leader.

I bring my experience and wisdom with me on every trek, to ensure safe excursions with the utmost attention to every detail.
